These Safety Guidelines ("Guidelines") apply to all users of the Mitework platform ("Platform"), including individuals seeking assistance ("Requestors") and individuals offering assistance ("Helpers"). Mitework is a free community platform designed to connect individuals who need local assistance with individuals who are willing to provide it. Mitework does not process, facilitate, or intermediate any financial transactions between users.
By accessing or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with these Guidelines. Failure to adhere may result in suspension or permanent termination of your account.
1.1 Exercise Independent Judgment. Mitework serves as a connection platform only. You are solely responsible for evaluating the suitability, qualifications, and trustworthiness of any user you engage with. Mitework does not conduct background checks, verify credentials, or guarantee the accuracy of any user-provided information.
1.2 Verify Before You Meet. Prior to agreeing to meet in person, use all available Platform features — including profiles, ratings, and in-app messaging — to evaluate the other party. Ask clarifying questions about the scope of work, timeline, and relevant qualifications.
1.3 Trust Your Instincts. If at any point you feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or uncertain about a user or arrangement, you are not obligated to proceed. You have the right to cancel or decline any engagement without explanation.
2.1 First Meetings in Public. When possible, conduct initial discussions or introductions in a well-populated public location. Avoid meeting for the first time at a private residence or isolated location unless the nature of the task necessitates it.
2.2 Inform a Trusted Contact. Before meeting another user in person, notify a trusted friend, family member, or colleague of: (a) the identity of the person you are meeting; (b) the location and address of the meeting; and (c) the anticipated duration of the engagement.
2.3 Do Not Go Alone When Unnecessary. For tasks involving access to your home or private property, consider having another person present, particularly for the initial engagement.
2.4 Emergency Preparedness. Keep your mobile phone charged and accessible at all times. Do not hesitate to call 911 or local emergency services if you believe you are in immediate danger.
2.5 Disclose Known Hazards. If a task involves work at height, with electrical systems, or in other potentially hazardous conditions, Requestors must disclose all known hazards at the task location prior to the engagement commencing.
3.1 No In-Platform Payments. Mitework does not process, collect, or facilitate any financial transactions. All payment arrangements are made directly and independently between Requestors and Helpers. Mitework is not a party to any payment agreement and bears no responsibility for payment disputes.
3.2 Beware of Advance Payment Requests. Be cautious of any user who requests full payment in advance — particularly via wire transfer, cryptocurrency, gift cards, or peer-to-peer payment applications — before any work has commenced. Such requests are commonly associated with fraudulent activity.
3.3 Do Not Share Financial Information. Never share bank account numbers, credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, or other sensitive financial or personal identifying information with another user through or in connection with the Platform.
3.4 Agree on Terms Before Work Begins. All payment terms — including amount, method, and timing — should be expressly agreed upon by both parties before any work begins. Mitework recommends confirming these terms through the Platform's in-app messaging feature to create a written record of the agreement.
3.5 Report Suspected Fraud. If you believe you have been the victim of financial fraud in connection with a Platform engagement, contact your financial institution immediately and report the incident to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at reportfraud.ftc.gov and to local law enforcement.
4.1 Limit Personal Disclosure. Do not share your home address, workplace address, personal phone number, or financial information with another user until you have established sufficient trust through Platform interactions.
4.2 Use In-Platform Messaging. Conduct all initial communications through the Platform's built-in messaging system. This creates a record of communications and keeps your personal contact information private until you choose to share it.
4.3 Protecting Minors. The Platform is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. Do not permit minors to use your account or engage in any transaction on your behalf.
The following conduct is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate account suspension or permanent termination:
6.1 Report Safety Concerns. If you experience or witness conduct that violates these Guidelines, or if you have safety concerns regarding another user, report it immediately to Mitework at support@mitework.online. Include as much detail as possible, including screenshots of relevant communications.
6.2 Cooperation with Law Enforcement. Mitework will cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies in connection with any investigation of illegal activity conducted in connection with the Platform.
6.3 Enforcement Discretion. Mitework reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to suspend or permanently terminate the account of any user who violates these Guidelines or whose conduct poses a risk to the safety of the Platform community.
THESE GUIDELINES ARE PROVIDED FOR INFORMATIONAL AND SAFETY AWARENESS PURPOSES ONLY AND DO NOT CONSTITUTE LEGAL ADVICE. MITEWORK MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES REGARDING THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR CURRENTNESS OF THESE GUIDELINES. MITEWORK IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY HARM, INJURY, LOSS, OR DAMAGE ARISING FROM USER INTERACTIONS FACILITATED THROUGH THE PLATFORM. ALL USERS ENGAGE WITH THE PLATFORM AND WITH OTHER USERS AT THEIR OWN RISK.

Welcome to Mitework. Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using our website, mobile application, or related services (collectively, the "Platform"). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Platform.
Mitework is a neutral technology platform that connects two types of users:
Mitework does not employ, contract with, supervise, direct, control, manage, or guarantee any Helper or Requestor. We are not a party to any agreement, arrangement, or transaction between users. Mitework does not:
Mitework's role is strictly limited to providing the software and venue through which users may discover each other and communicate. All decisions to post, accept, negotiate, perform, or decline a task are made solely and voluntarily by the users involved.
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is greater), able to form a legally binding contract, and not barred from using the Platform under applicable law. By using Mitework, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.
You are responsible for:
You agree to notify Mitework immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. Mitework is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your credentials.
You are entirely responsible for your own conduct and for any task you post, accept, or perform through the Platform. You agree that:
Mitework does not conduct background checks, identity verifications, reference checks, or skill assessments on any user unless expressly stated otherwise in a specific feature. Any information shown on a user's profile is self-reported and has not been independently verified by Mitework.
Any agreement between a Requestor and Helper — including the scope of work, price, timing, location, method of payment, and any other terms — is a direct and independent agreement between the two users. Mitework is not a party to that agreement.
You are solely responsible for determining and fulfilling any tax, withholding, reporting, insurance, and licensing obligations arising from your activity on the Platform.
You understand and acknowledge that interactions arranged through the Platform — including meeting in person, entering private residences, transporting goods, handling personal property, and performing physical labor — carry inherent risks, including but not limited to:
You voluntarily assume all such risks. Your decision to post, accept, or perform any task is made entirely at your own risk and based on your own independent judgment.
THE PLATFORM AND ALL CONTENT, LISTINGS, AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mitework disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to:
No advice or information obtained through the Platform creates any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
(a) MITEWORK, ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AGENTS, AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, AND SUPPLIERS (COLLECTIVELY, THE "MITEWORK PARTIES") SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY PERSONAL INJURY, BODILY HARM, DEATH, EMOTIONAL DISTRESS, PROPERTY DAMAGE, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF INCOME, LOST PROFITS, OR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO:
1. Your use of, or inability to use, the Platform; 2. Any interaction, communication, transaction, or relationship between users; 3. The conduct, performance, negligence, or misconduct of any user or third party; 4. Any task posted, accepted, performed, canceled, or refused through the Platform; 5. Any content, listing, or information provided by any user; 6. Any loss, damage, theft, or destruction of property; 7. Any unauthorized access to or alteration of your data; 8. Any error, omission, delay, interruption, or defect in the Platform.
(b) The Mitework Parties' aggregate liability, if any, for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall not exceed the greater of (i) the total amount you have paid to Mitework in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (ii) one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).
(c) The limitations in this Section apply regardless of the legal theory asserted (contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise) and even if the Mitework Parties have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in such jurisdictions, the exclusions and limitations above apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
You irrevocably release, waive, and discharge the Mitework Parties from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, losses, damages, costs, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) of every kind and nature, known and unknown, arising out of or in any way connected with:
If you are a California resident, you waive California Civil Code § 1542, which says:
"A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known by him or her, would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party."
You waive any comparable statute or doctrine in your own jurisdiction.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Mitework Parties from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:
Mitework makes no promise that any task will be accepted, performed, or completed, that any Requestor will be matched with a Helper (or vice versa), or that the Platform will produce any particular result. Availability of users depends entirely on third parties outside of Mitework's control.
Any dispute, disagreement, claim, or controversy between users — including but not limited to disputes over payment, work quality, damage, injury, or refunds — is strictly between the users involved. Mitework is not obligated to mediate, arbitrate, investigate, or resolve any such dispute. If Mitework elects, in its sole discretion, to assist in any way, such assistance does not create any duty or ongoing obligation.
You may not use the Platform to:

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Platform, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.
Mitework reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by posting the updated Terms on the Platform and updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Platform after any modification constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Mitework may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice or cause. You may terminate your account at any time by ceasing use of the Platform and requesting account deletion. All provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including Sections 4–10, 12, and 18.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
Any dispute between you and Mitework arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, in San Francisco, California. You and Mitework each waive the right to a trial by jury and the right to participate in any class action, collective action, or representative proceeding. If arbitration is unavailable or unenforceable, exclusive jurisdiction and venue shall lie in the state and federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.
